Cops angry over suspects photos

Homicide officers yesterday slammed the publication of the faces of six of 19 persons wanted for murder. According to the homicide officers, they will no longer be able to hold identification parades if the suspects are apprehended, because of the publication of the photos. The forensic artist depictions of 19 suspects were printed in all three daily newspapers yesterday, with the headline “Face To Face.” The ad revealed that the images were based on descriptions given by eyewitnesses.

Homicide officers said while they agree with the bold measures being adopted to deal with the crime upsurge, they feel they should have been consulted in the matter. They also feel publication of the pictures could now seriously affect their ability to get convictions.
