Unemployed Laventille mom delivers triplets

When 28-year-old Nicole Dindyal first found out she was pregnant with triplets, all she could do was cry. The Laventille resident could not imagine how she would be able to cope financially with the three, since she is unemployed and already has five other children. “I start to panic and get worried because I was so surprised since twins and triplets do not run in my family nor my husband’s family,” she said. Dindyal’s worries were erased, however, when she saw the faces of her three beautiful daughters after delivery at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital (PoSGH) yesterday. Tears of joy also flowed when doctors told her that her girls were in perfect health.

The first to be born at 12.06 am was Rebecca, then came Andrea at 12.13 am followed by Nicola at 12.19 am. Dindyal revealed that she only spent 45 minutes in labour. “Everything was quick, I had no problems at all,” the ecstatic mother told Newsday yesterday She said she began to experience labour pains around 11 pm on Monday. She was then rushed to the hospital and by 12.20 am, everything was over. She added that she was not at all worried about her financial constraints now, since she has the support of her husband, Andre Arthur, a 32-year-old CEPEP worker, and her family. “I was worried at first but then I remembered that God always provides and I trust him. He has been there for me before and I know he will help me now,” she said.

Her other children Jan, 12, Jamal, ten, Britney, eight, Bridgette, five, and Mikel, three, are all very excited about the three new additions to the family. They were so excited they did not want to go to school yesterday, she stated. She praised the nurses at the PoSGH for their “expert treatment and care,” saying that was the major cause of the triplets’ safe delivery. Dindyal and the girls will be discharged today. Thairys Lopez and Sandra Nanton, marketing representatives from Misons Industries Ltd, yesterday presented Dindyal with three month’s supplies of newborn pampers and other baby supplies. They also assured her that in the months to come, they will also assist with baby clothes.
