NGOs get $48,000 in computers
Minister of Culture and Gender Affairs, Joan Yuille-Williams, last Friday donated 20 computers worth $48,000, to various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) around the country. The distribution was part of the Government’s drive to bring information technology into communities. Williams described the contribution as one of the major commitments by the Government, to develop a knowledge-based society by 2020. The Government, she said, intends to make computers available to every school and every community. “Members of our communities must be able to explore the universe of knowledge through the Internet,” said Yuille-Williams.
