Taxi driver killed in Valencia crash

THE long holiday weekend was marred by the tragic death of a Valencia taxi driver. According to eyewitness reports, at around 2 pm yesterday, taxi driver Randolph Isaac, 29, of Eastern Main Road, Valencia, was driving west along the Valencia stretch in his  B13 taxi with one male occupant in the front passenger seat. Isaac reportedly overtook a long line of vehicles and crashed head on into a Wingroad driven by Marilyn Medric of Caroni. Another woman, Michelle McIntosh, of Tacarigua, was also in the Wingroad.

Isaac’s car turned over several times pinning him under the vehicle.  He died on the spot. The other occupant got out of the car and ran into the nearby forest. Medric and McIntosh received minor injuries and were rushed to the Sangre Grande District Hospital, where they were treated and discharged. District Medical Officer Dr Shalam viewed Isaac’s body and ordered its removal to the Sangre Grande mortuary. Cpls Russel Gopaul, Exavir Pierre and PCS Ashook Mootilal and Shaheed Khan visited the scene. Cpl Pierre is continuing investigations.
