Indian star Zubeen coming to TT

Zubeen, whose hits include the phenomenal super hit “Ya Ali,” “Subah Subah,” “Jag Lal,” “Ek Din” (re-mixed version) and “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom,” will join Raymond and Rennie Ramnarine for what the promoters says will be “the love event of the year” on February 16 at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya.

Zubeen has been flooded with offers in the film industry ever since his track “Ya Ali” from the movie Gangster became a super hit.

Famous music director Shankar Mahadevav says Zubeen is a very good singer who took advantage of this break and the rest is history. No current singer has been able to give so many hits in such a short space of time, “Subah Subah,” “Jag Lal” and others.

Zubeen’s voice is really captivating according to Lata Mangeshkar who describes it as soulful and heart touching. Zubeen has proved his mettle with more than 7000 Assamese songs and a promising future as an actor and music director.

The actual name of Zubeen Garg was named after the great composer Zubin Mehta and used their Gautra as his surname. He is the son of Mohini M Borthakur, a famous lyricist and poet (who uses the pseudo name Kapil Thakur), and the late Ily Borthakur.

Zubeen’s mother was a good dancer, an actress and a singer. However, she never turned these talents into a professional career. Instead, she decided to teach them to little Zubeen at home. Zubeen considers his mother to be his first guru and mentor.

Zubeen’s younger sister Jonkie Borthakur was a well-known singer and actress who unfortunately died in a car accident in 2002. Zubeen’s other sister Palme, is a good bharat natyam dancer, presently living in Guwahati.

Zubeen lives with his wife Garima in his flat, part of his music studio called Sound & Silence, located in Mumbai, India.

This Valentine’s show is also very important as the Dil E Nadan Orchestra , one of the top musical bands in the Caribbean and known for its versatility and innovation will perform.
