Sadance prepares for big show
The Arima-based dance company was established two years ago under the stewardship of Sade Chance, who currently services as Chief Executive Officer.
She told Newsday: “My inspiration came from my faith in God as dancing is the most expressive and unique language created by God.”
Chance said her love for dance and divine inspiration, led her to set up the dance company in November, 2006, after which it was registered as a non profit organisation.
Chance who won a National Youth Award last year for Dance and Drama, has been dancing for the past 12 years, six of them at the professional level.
Sadance Productions has trained 45 student applicants between January and May as part of our strategy to promote dancing.
According to Chance, preparing for this year’s production has “really been a tall order”, as it involved tutoring more than 23 young girls between the ages of three and ten in modern ballet, folk, hip hop and jazz. In addition, eight senior students between 11 and 30 years also took part in dance training. Sadance included ballroom and Latin movements in its extensive repertoire.
This years’ Latin class comprised of swing, waltz, cha-cha-cha, meringue and salsa.
Chance said: “We will also accompany The Eastern Youth Chorale to Greece for The International Youth Chorale Festival in June next year.
The Board of Directors of Sadance Productions would like to commend Permell Garcia, Troy Williams, Ashley Lacroix, Arlene Hamblin, and Kimberly Romain for their involvement in dancing.
