Scorpions ready to rock the Republic

The band, well known for its 1984 monster anthem “Rock you like a Hurricane”, is currently on a world tour supporting their latest CD Humanity Hour 1. They have been recording and touring for more than 35 years, and have sold over 80 million records world- wide. Promoter Star Events Limited has launched a massive promotion in the build up to this mega concert on 95.1FM, the official concert station, with free ticket giveaways, live coverage of the band’s arrival at Piarco International Airport and live interviews with band members.

Scorpions was formed in Hanover, Germany, in the mid-sixties by rhythm guitarist Rudolf Shenker and over the years has had several line up changes but has maintained core members such as Shenker, vocalist Klaus Maine and lead guitarist Mathias Jabs. They boast of having a powerful rhythm section of LA based drummer James Kottack and Croatian-born Pawal Maciwoda on drums.

Scorpions most successful album was 1988’s Savage Amusement which contained the hit “Rhythm of Love”, 1990’s Crazy World produced the hit single “Winds of Change”.

The power ballad “ Still Loving You” from 1984’s album Love at First Sting was listed at #22 on VH1’s 25 Power Ballads of all time and “No One Like You” from 1981’s Blackout album made it to #1 on the Billboard main stream charts.

TT fans will rock to many of their classic rockers and ballads in this historic concert since the Scorpions who are currently on the Brazil leg of the Humanity world tour will perform in the Caribbean for the first time. Local roots/rock outfit Orange Sky, on tour in the US, will return home to open the show. Only last year they released a hard rocking cover of Scorpions 1979 hit “Is There Anybody There,” which has received constant airplay.
