Bastille Day 2009

In his speech His Excellency Michel Trinquier, the French Ambassador, highlighted French involvement in the development of Trinidad and Tobago citing the Waterfront Project and the Overpass at the junction of the Churchill-Roosevelt and Uriah Butler Highways. He also paid tribute to the work of the Alliance Fran?aise in cementing friendship ties between TT and France, and addressed a few words in French to his fellow-countrymen before inviting his guests to drink a toast to the host country, Trinidad and Tobago.

Chattering guests distracted the attention from Foreign Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon’s speech.

We gathered she made reference to the Overpass easing major traffic congestion, the rest and relaxation provided for citizens in the Waterfront Project, looked forward to more Franco-Trinbagonian collaborations in the future and proposed a toast to friendship and continued cooperation between France and TT.
