EPA wants to meet top cop
Executive member Allan Sampson said the death of security officer Glenroy Jones could have been prevented if proper measures were taken by the security firm.
“At the time of the attack, there was only one officer on duty instead of two. Some of these employers are just taking contracts. Do they care for the lives of these officers?” Sampson asked.
Adding that some firms were not looking at the high risk of the job, he expressed concern that employers were not keeping with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
Jones of Serraneau Road, Belmont, was killed while on duty at the Service Commission on Cipriani Boulevard when he opened the door to allow a man in on the compound. He was shot several times and in his firearm stolen. He died at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
