Irresponsible dog owners — are you happy now?

All that being said, I guess humans will always be the most destructive and least intelligent of all the animals on earth.

With that established, let me propose the following to help save this breed and possibly improve the legislation to make it less costly for so-called dangerous dog owners.

As part of the “dangerous” dog, registration process, owners would provide their address and residence of the dog as well as other contact information. A trained Government official should then use this info to make a site visits to examine under what conditions these dogs are being kept. The site visit should examine specifically; the owner’s security around the premises, the conditions in which the dog is living and the dietary regime of the dog. The legislation should set strict guidelines and benchmarks for these variables and provided that the dog owner satisfactorily achieves these benchmarks a reduced insurance rate should be implemented. Also given adequate security and responsible ownership conditions are satisfied, a database of such responsible owners should be established. This database will primarily be used to enable breeders to sell their dogs to only such responsible owners who have met the criterion to be enlisted in the database.

The amendments to the legislation to incorporate the above would in my opinion allow responsible pitbull owners to continue to breed pitbulls and avoid the extinction of one of the most misunderstood breeds ever.
