Farewell, Victor

Joseph, 52, died at hospital following a battle with cancer.

Fr Michael Mackhan officiated at the funeral mass held at the St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in St James.

Newsday’s Chief Exec-

utive Officer and Editor in Chief Therese Mills offered condolences to Joseph’s family on behalf of the company.

“I offer condolences on behalf of the Newsday family. We will remember Victor’s gentleness, loyalty, his kindness and his helpfulness.

“We witnessed his struggle with cancer, and we hoped that he would have won this fight, but it wasn’t to be. We are not in control of these matters. May he rest in peace,” she stated.

Joseph’s nephew Richard Joseph, delivered the eulogy, in which he described his uncle as, “an exceptional and loving son, brother, uncle and friend.

He spent his life helping others and in the service of others.

“He was never a material person. He was always a giver, never a taker. Victor had the most generous and kindest heart. He will forever live in the hearts of all of us who knew him and whom he has left behind, but knowing the life he lived, we know that he is resting in peace with the Lord.”

Colleagues of Joseph described him as “a well-liked gentleman” who was a sports enthusiast, who loved cricket and football. Cricket in fact was his passion.

Joseph worked at Newsday for the past 15 years in the company’s Advertising Department.

A collection was taken during the funeral mass for the Trinidad and Tobago Cancer Society. Following the service, Joseph was cremated at the St James crematorium.

He is survived by his three brothers Hazare, Peter and Nyim and two sisters Yasmin and Margaret.

He was the uncle of Michelle, Richard, Christal, Tanya, Regina, Anna, Mauricio, Than, Paola and Brandon.
