Junior squash May 24-26
Competition among the local participants is expected to be high as this will be their final chance to seal a place on the National team ahead of the forthcoming Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Championship in Jamaica, July 19-26.
Vying for top honours and hopefully a team spot will be top local players — Charlotte Knaggs, Nku and Mandela Patrick, Jacob Gillezeau, Christian Edghill, Darnell Gittens, Talia Abdool and Emily Farah.
They will combine with others local players to compete in the Under-13, 15, 17 and 19 age group brackets. Players are only allowed to compete in one category. Games will be played in the format of best of five, par to 11. Previously, the KFC Junior Open ehich was held in April was used as a qualifier for the CASA national team selection. Players will now be hoping to improve their game to get the opportunity to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the regional tournament.
Additionally, there will be an overall entry fee of $100 and a mandatory TTSA membership fee of $100. Players are also being reminded that eyewear is mandatory for participation. Registration can take place through the online site secretary@squashtt.org. The deadline for registration is May 20.
