Ibis TT presents first dance theatre production

Me is the story of a young woman, Maria who is full of optimism but who, unfortunately, is deceived. The audience will be exposed to her consequential life challenges as her story unfolds.

Me explores abuse in all forms as well as highlights how people deal with various personal challenges such as cancer, conflict and death. It also embraces the power of love, religion and self.

IBIS TT Performers was founded in 2005 under the guidance of Sherma Burke-Forde. It has participated in a number of dance festivals exploring various genres of dance while collaborating with other dance companies, individuals and institutions in an effort to further the discipline of dance.

With its roots in contemporary, IBIS is now spreading its wings making the transition into other spheres of theatre. This once all-female group now consist of approximately 30 young professionals, both male and female who have all recommitted themselves to using “art” as a profound social change agent.

The production will feature several guest performers including, Vaughnette Bigford, Collis Duranty, Lois Lewis, Jeunes Agape and Chris Vocal Academy with a live band directed by Jill-ann Walters.

The work of five choreographers will be featured and will bring the production to life. They include Sherma Burke-Forde, lead choreographer and artistic director of IBIS TT Performers, Deon Baptiste, Andre Arneau, Sherid Mason, and Gregor Breedy.

The production is written and directed by Arthur Lewis. Additional performances include Terry David Dance Company, The Gentlemen, Sharon Peirre Dance Company, CVA Dancers, IBIS Juniors, Sweno Latino, Amritan Shakti Dance Company, and more.
