Regent Star New hotel opens at Piarco
Kenrick Nanan, executive director of the hotel situated at 118-119 BWIA Boulevard, Piarco and overlooking the Piarco International Airport, told Newsday that the hotel has 165 tastefully designed suites – four presidential suites, nine executive suites, 30 junior suites and the rest, standard suites.
The Regent Star also has one executive boardroom catering for 20 persons, a conference facility and banquet hall that can accommodate over 300 persons.
There are three restaurants, one Mediterranean fine-dining seating 60 persons, one seafood and the main restaurant for buffet and a la carte dining that can seat 350 persons.
Other amenities include spa, tennis court, games room, gym, jacuzzi, two swimming pools, high speed wireless internet access, three duty free shops, one of which is a souvenir shop. Unique to most hotels, there will be an antique car museum.
For guests who enjoy their cigars and cigarettes, there are two smoking areas with full service, while all guests can access the bars and live entertainment while keeping track of their flights through an in-house flight monitor.
Nanan stated: “We are catering to business clients, off-shore workers, delay flight personnel and guests in general.”
When Newsday visited last week, corporate client, Maxwell Hampshire, International Sales Manager at National Chemical Laboratories (NCL) out of Philadelphia, US, was enjoying his stay. He said of the hotel, “It is convenient because the airport is right there. It’s bright and its got everything.”
Nanan said fellow directors are aiming to get the hotel to 5-star status in short order.
