Bennett eases into National Open semis
Bennett had no trouble against Lanser, who played Under-14 tennis this year, defeating her 6-0, 6-0 in their Women’s Singles quarterfinal match.
It seemed as though Bennett was taking it easy on Lanser who put up an admirable fight with some good forearm returns, but the national player was clearly more experienced on the court.
Other women’s Singles quarterfinal matches yesterday saw Emma Davis beat Anya King 6-3 6-3 while Emma-Rose Trestrail got the better of Carissa Rodulfo, winning 6-1, 6-4. Shenelle Mohammed whipped Oseyonye Nwokolo 6-2, 6-0 in their encounter.
In round two of the men’s singles, Tobago’s Yohansey Williams continued his winning ways, beating Kirk John-Williams 6-2, 6-0 while Javier Lewis crushed Kheron Ward 6-1, 6-0.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, Richard Chung whipped Keshan Moonasar in straight sets in the men’s singles. Chung got the better of Moonasar 6- 1, 6-1 while Kheron Ward beat Marc Douglas 6-1, 6-1 in their match.
The Mc Colin Fontenelle vs Adam Scott match ended 6-0, 6-2 in favour of Fontenelle. Nabeel Mohammed beat Timothy Davis 6-4, 3- 6, 6-0 in their clash.
Ross Hackshaw beat Ronald Robinson 6-0, 6-0 while Kirk John- Williams defeated Ronald Robinson 6-0, 6-1 to get out of the first round.
Kristyan Valentine did not allow Covell Millett to put up any points on the table, beating him 6-0, 6-0.
Roderick Williams drew a blank when he faced Akiel Duke, losing 6- 0, 6-0.
In the women’s singles category on Tuesday, Anya King got the better of Aura Whittier 6-1, 6-3 while Olivia Bennett started flawless against Victoria Koylass (6-0,6-0).
