Chantal reveals the name “Babe Cave” was borne soon after she spotted a sign in a home d?cor store that read, “Woman Cave... where the gossip is hot, serving whatever you bring.”
“This year is a big one for me,” Chantal says, commenting on turning 25 and the opening of her Trinidad location of Babe Cave (the store’s first location is in Toronto), and says that customers can look out for a location in Barbados soon enough as well.
Her roots are in cosmetology and permanent makeup, as well as medical aesthetics.
“I have trained in numerous eyelash extension and eyebrow extension courses with some of the best.To this day, I continue workshops keeping up with the latest and greatest lash and brow trends.”
She has a “badass” team of women working behind her – her babes – and says she considers being a “boss” a privilege. She credits the Babe Cave team’s unity as its strong point. “The biggest triumph for me is my team,” she reveals, mentioning the pride that fills her when thinking of her Trinidad and Toronto locations.
“I want to pull my hair out 80% of the time, however, I never show it!” she comments on the challenges of being an entrepreneur. “Many people really don’t see the ins and outs of what it entails to run a business like this exclusively in different countries. I love it though, it’s what keeps my hair intact most days!”
Her brand is inspired by her surroundings and her passion for the beauty industry, which she says she came into in her teens. Among the services offered at Babe Cave, customers can peruse a slew of items from green tea to beauty products to Babe Cave beauty adhesive – all in the line of selfcare and spoiling yourself. Some of the products are the first of its kind to reach Trinidad and Tobago, and the Cave’s website states excitedly: “We are beyond ecstatic to spread the lash, brow, and wax love across the Caribbean.”
Chantal gives a quick rundown of some of the Cave’s specialties, including “The Hint” – a tint and henna mix that is “the perfect combination for a fuller looking brow all day, everyday!” The full Russian Volume eyelash set – lash extensions followed by three volume fills. And their trademarked “Brazilionaire” wax, to which she says, “Say goodbye to the uncomfortable 45-minute-long leg spread. Our ‘man teasers’ take 15 minutes and are virtually ouch-less.”
The Cave is also a pioneer in micro blading, “this modern method of micro pigmentation [that] is growing more and more famous by the day and is currently only offered at Babe Cave.”
While she admits the spheres of eyebrows, eyelashes, and waxing may appeal more to the ladies, she does reveal that Babe Cave offers male waxing and she teases, “Come on guys, you know you wanna!” She also hopes to appeal to wide variety of persons, saying, “Age is just a number here!”
