Kes wows the people

So magnificent was the kindred spirit and fun energy created as lead singer, Kees Dieffenthaller called the entire cast and crew of performers, dancers and musicians on stage for a final romp to his hit single, “People” and a final bow and thank you to the audience.

The Laventille Rhythm section kept going for as long as they could, as the masses slowly and reluctantly made their way through the exits. It was a night that many patrons referred to as “unforgettable” and “amazing” as the band provided hours of entertainment and welcomed international acts. From calypso veteran guests such as Shadow, Baron and David Michael Rudder, to soca stars like Devon “Lyrikal” Martin and Teddyson John and the “Kes-crowned 2016 Soca Monarch winner in advance”, Aaron “Voice” St Louis, “Tuesday On The Rocks” gave patrons an up close and personal taste of their favourite artistes. Of course, there was plenty of Kes music as well, with the audience singing along to such hits as: “Ting”, “Million”, “Stress Away”, “Endless Summer”, “Where Yuh From” and the 2011 Groovy Soca Monarch winner, “Wotless”.

“Tonight was amazing! I feel overwhelmed right now to be honest,” said Dieffenthaller after the event. “I keep thanking the team and all the guests, all the fans and everybody who was a part of this, yuh know. This was our third year and it keeps growing and getting better and we are getting better and better at what we do so the future looks bright and we definitely want to take this brand to the world so I’m excited about the possibilities now that we have come this far and achieved this much.” There were more surprises for patrons as Jamaican dancehall legend, Damian “Cham” Beckett took the stage and shared hits like “Vitamin S”, “Wine” and “Ghetto Story”. “Cheerleader” singer, Omar “Omi” Pasley also made an appearance, but it was St Thomas duo, RCity and Latin singer, Chris Hierro who really brought the energy with their respective contributions.

“It’s amazing to see how these big acts react and respond when they see the vibes and the energy we have here in Trinidad and during Carnival especially,” Dieffenthaller said.

“Trinidad and Tobago is really a special place and we tend to forget that sometimes – when other things are happening, but when you see it through the eyes of a tourist or someone visiting, you get reminded of all the magic we possess that we often take for granted. I’m truly grateful to all the guests and the visitors and the tourists who come every year and remind us that this is paradise.” London-based director, Tom Swindell was present and filmed scenes for another epic Kes music video, even as the people continued to call for the hit song “People” as their Road March contender for 2016.
