Catch Junior tennis underway

In the Girls Under-10 round robin (Group I), Wong beat Tyla Gonzalez and Lisa Marie Seaton 4-0, 4-0 while Ghuran ousted Maegan Gonzalez and Makayla Smith by the same margin. Jordane (Group II) also kept pace with the unbeaten duo as she recorded similar results against the likes of Smith and Maegan. These opening wins for the youngsters have already bolstered their chances of securing spots in the Main Draw as round robin action continues from 9am today.

Also recording convincing victories in the Boys Under-10 division on the opening day were Adrian Jacobs and Jaydon Chapman, both in Group VIII. Jacobs eased past James Hadden 4-1, 4-2 and then rallied from behind to conquer Shane Ramsumair 1-4, 5-4 (7) and 10-7 in the Super Tiebreak. Chapman, in his opening match, also dug deep to beat Ramsumair 1-4, 4-1; 10-7 and then defeated Hadden 5-4(6), 5-4(2).

In the Girls Under-14 Singles first round, Kaela Frank got the better of Janay Sealy 6-1, 6-0; Emily Lawrence trumped Nicholette Orr 4-6, 6-0, 6-2; Kelsey Leitch eased past Kryshelle Cudjoe 6-1, 6-0 while Fabiana Mata Brewer got past Charlotte Merry 6-4, 6-2.
