Selwyn Richardson not forgotten
I do remember Richardson in wake of the small percentage of the Law Association passing a motion of no confidence on Wednesday July 1, against Attorney General John Jeremie that fails to move him.
Selwyn Richardson had to flee the foul nihilism of the PNM, as he said, “Eric Williams was giving me a ride around the world to prevent me uncovering O’ Hallorran.” The DC- 9 scandal caused Williams to disfavour Richardson. In 1981 on leaving the cesspit of corruption Richardson said: “There are too many obstructions to the wheels of justice.”
Richardson earned enemies in the PNM, while underestimating the fanatical hatred that was notable in the party, the same precedent is also notable in this era. It seeks to destroy every honest man foolish enough to oppose it with resolve. Richardson was sometimes irritatingly self righteous, as if he never understood that no good man or set of good men, could change TT.
It is culture and institution which will prevail against this evil.
In death Richardson can serve TT as he never did in life, if the former NAR Minister’s can infuse our minds and animate the soul of our leaders. The youth of TT will abandon their delusions and have true role models to admire, emulate and imitate.
