Man on gun, ammo charge
The court heard that on May 9 during a police exercise at the John John flyover — Ancil Mitchell, along with Justin Superville and Curtis Cyrus were found in a vehicle that also contained a gun and 15 rounds of ammunition.
Mitchell was not called upon to plead as the charges were laid indictably. Superville who is already serving time for another offence was not brought to court yesterday, while the search continues for Cyrus. Mitchell was remanded in custody until today for tracing.
In an unrelated court case, two brothers who were found with 31 grammes of marijuana at their apartment at Arondell Street in Morvant on May 18, each received different sentences after they entered two different pleas in court on Thursday.
Carl Jules, 65 pleaded not guilty to possession of marijuana, while his brother Joseph Jules, 69 pleaded guilty.
Appearing before Magistrate Marcia Murray in the Port of Spain Fifth Magistrate’s Court, Jules (C) said the 17 packets of marijuana found in a clothes basket in a bedroom of the house did not belong to him.
Meanwhile, Jules (J) who claimed to a businessman, admitted he had purchased the drugs to smoke.
Placing Jules (C) on a $5,000 own bond, he was ordered to reappear in court on June 2.
Jules (J) was later fined $1,000 to be paid in 28 days or in default, he will serve 30 days hard labour.
