Gordon grabs bronze to end season

Competing at the Samsung Diamond League in Brussels, Belgium, the Tobagonian crossed the finish line in 45.13 seconds to end 2012 with yet another medal. The 23-year-old was beaten by Belgium’s Kevin Borlee (44.75) who copped the gold and his compatriot Jonathan Borlee (45.02) who came second.

Olympic silver medallist, Luguelin Santos of the Dominican Republic had to settle for fourth place after clocking 45.31.

Gordon, who had expressed eagerness to finish what was a very hectic but successful season, was understandably elated to be returning home with a medal.

His appetite for medals satisfied, Gordon now has other craving which he tweeted about following his race yesterday.

“Trinidad and Tobago here I come. How I miss u so...two bags of plum and ah roti is all I want when I arrive,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, sprint legend Usain Bolt came from behind to take the 100m gold medal. Bolt, running out of lane five, clocked a relatively slow 9.86 seconds to snatch first place ahead of compatriot Nesta Carter.

“I was just happy to be done. I went out there just for the fans,” Bolt said.

“From yesterday I told my coach (Glen Mills) that I felt slow and lazy. I felt drained. He told me ‘make sure you go out there and execute right and it should be ok’ and that’s what I did.” Carter was second in 9.96 seconds with another Jamaican Kemar Bailey Cole placing third in a personal best 9.97 seconds.

Also, Yohan Blake obliterated the field in the 200m race in a fast 19.54 seconds. He was chased down by fellow Jamaican Jason Young (19.92) and Christophe Lemaitre (20.17) who were second and third respectively.
