Last week Monday, Dixon, a Form Three student of the Waterloo Secondary School, Carapichaima was stabbed to death during the mid-morning break by a Form Five student following an alleged argument over a girl, who attends the same school.

The fatal stabbing took place in the girl’s classroom. One of the students who intervened during the squabble received a wound to his neck. The murder weapon believed to be a fishing knife is yet to be found, however, police suspect that students know where the weapon is but are refusing to speak.

Investigators have been working with video footage obtained from surveillance cameras at the school as they continue their investigations.

The teenage suspect is said to be from a devout Christian family and close relative of a church pastor.

On Thursday night, the parents of the girl visited Dixon’s mother Camille Taitt, 34 at her home at Bagna Trace, Chase Village, Chaguanas.

Taitt told Newsday that they denied that their daughter caused her son’s death.

She said: “I listened to them but was not impressed.”

To date, however, Taitt said she has not had “one word of sympathy” from the family of the boy who it is alleged stabbed Dixon to death.

“As a parent I could have not stand by and, hard as it is not visit the family if it was the other way around.”

While Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams continued uninterrupted National Certificate of Secondary Examinations (NCSE) which was in progress at the time at the school for Form Three students had to be halted following the tragedy. It is due to resume today.

Ministry of Education have since sent in counselors to the school to treat with staff and students affected by the killing.
