Manager abducted while firm robbed

A St Clair computer firm’s office manager was abducted by four armed men on Monday night and held prisoner while the company was cleaned out. According to reports, after locking up at around 6.45 pm, the manager of Lap Top City, corner Sweet Briar Road and Maraval Road in St Clair, was about five minutes from her Belmont home when a car pulled up with four armed men and ordered her to enter. The men then drove to a house in Morvant where they threatened to kill her if she did not give them the security code to enter the building, the keys for the door and other vital information.

Two men left with the information and keys, while two stayed with her and threatened to kill her if the other two did not return. The men returned with thousand of dollars worth of computer equipment which they put in the house. They then took the manager to the bottom of the Lady Young Road where she was let out. She made her way to the Port-of-Spain CID where she made a report. Police visited the scene where they took prints. The company has since offered an undisclosed reward for any information leading to information on the missing computer equipment.

When Newsday visited, a shaken Lawrence Buckmuyer (owner/general manager) confirmed the larceny and reward, but expressed fear about the situation. He said “From the questions they asked the manager, it seemed they have been stalking the place and could be watching our movements. It is frightening what is happening in this country. “We have to be careful of the times were are living in.” $150,000 worth of equipment was stolen.
