EX minister facing INNcogen arrest

The arrest of a former senior minister arising out of the investigations into the InnCogen issue is imminent, sources said yesterday. Sources stated that the probe revealed payments of US $3.5 million and US $2.35 million to private accounts. Although the corruption involved 12 persons, investigators have been able to trace the funds to the accounts of a particular foreign minister. Sources stated that much of the money was traced to a US-based middle-man who disbursed the funds to various persons, including the former senior minister.

It is understood that the State was able to acquire a lot of information to conclude its investigations, following the visit of Prime Minister Patrick Manning to Washington late last year. The controversial InnCogen contract which  committed TTEC to an expensive “take or pay” arrangement which was given under sole selective tender and not as a result of a competitive bid, raised many questions.
