No-case submission made in writing

A NO-CASE submission was made in writing as the preliminary inquiry continued yesterday in the Miss Universe fraud case. Gina Welsh, of Gittens Road, Glencoe, is before Senior Magistrate Ejenny Espinet in the Port-of-Spain First Magistrates’ Court charged with defrauding the Pageant Company of $24,584.70 when Trinidad and Tobago hosted the Miss Universe Pageant in 1999.

Welsh was Marketing Manager of the Pageant Company when the alleged offence was committed. The charge was laid by Supt Glenroy Woodley of the Fraud Squad. When the inquiry continued yesterday, Welsh’s attorney Gillian Lucky submitted her a no-case submission in writing to the magistrate. State attorney Shoba Jamunar is to respond and the case has been postponed to July 22.
