Panday: PNM agrees with me
OPPOSITION LEADER Basdeo Panday said he felt vindicated to learn about PNM claims of discrimination in areas controlled by the UNC. Following Sunday’s PNM General Council meeting at Balisier House, party vice-chairman John Donaldson said the PNM has received reports of discrimination against its representatives and supporters in areas which fall under the control of UNC-controlled local government bodies. Speaking with reporters at his Port-of-Spain office hours later, Panday said Donaldson’s statement means that the PNM agrees with him that discrimination is a serious issue in Trinidad and Tobago today. The UNC leader said this was why he has repeatedly called for discrimination to be at the forefront of discussion with Government and form a key part of anti-crime talks between himself and Prime Minister Patrick Manning.
