SRP detained following missing gun’s seizure
According to reports, on Friday morning the sergeant who is in charge of the Biche Police Station lodged his personal firearm for safekeeping at the station and went away.
He returned on Friday night and when he attempted to retrieve his firearm he discovered that it was missing. Southern junior officers who had access to the station on Friday were taken to various police stations in the Eastern Division where they were quizzed over the missing gun.
A search was also carried out at the Biche Police Station but the gun was nowhere to be found.
Newsday understands that shortly after 2 am yesterday the missing gun was found on a shelf close to a computer at the station and the SRP was later detained.
Up until late yesterday he remained in custody pending further enquiries into the matter.
