Court dismisses Londons’ appeal
The Court of Appeal yesterday dismissed an appeal by Kenrick London and his wife Chandroutie, who were convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of Chandroutie’s sister, Meena Sookoo. The court comprised of Justices of Appeal Roger Hamel-Smith, Lionel Jones and Wendell Kangaloo. A written judgment will be made available next week. The couple was sentenced to death by Justice Melville Baird on May 15, 2003, after a San Fernando jury found them guilty of murdering Sookoo between November 23 and 28, 1997. Sookoo’s body was found in a canefield at Esperanza Village, South Trinidad.
