Taxi drivers charged with disorderly conduct
TWO taxi-drivers yesterday appeared before Princes Town First Court Magistrate Jai Narine charged with resisting arrest and disorderly behaviour, following protests by taxi drivers on Thursday over relocation of several taxi stands in Princes Town. Joel Young and Krishna Arjoon were allowed to leave court after they were reprimanded and discharged.
According to re-ports, SRP Babal was on patrol duty along the Naparima/Mayaro Road in Princes Town, when he saw the defendants causing unnecessary obstruction. The officer told the two drivers to stop obstructing the road, but they refused and were arrested. Young, who was charged with resisting arrest, had this charge dismissed, while Arjoon had the charge of disorderly behaviour dismissed.
