Burglars strike in downtown PoS
Several businessplaces in downtown Port-of-Spain continue to be burglarised between 11 pm and 5 am. In a release yesterday by the Downtown Owners’ and Merchants’ Association, it was noted that the businessplaces most affected are located in close proximity to City Hall and City Police headquarters. On Sunday, showroom windows opposite City Police headquarters were loudly smashed, before they were emptied.
“We wish to advise downtown merchants, tenants and building owners that the late night situation in the city centre warrants precaution and attention to heighten security. “We strongly urge that cash is not to be kept on premises and overnight ‘floats’ not be left in visible locations,” the release advised. It also urged business owners to desist from leaving cash registers open and ensure that rooftop access is made difficult. DOMA president Gregory Aboud visited IAM and company, which was burglarised on Tuesday night.
