2 held with ganja during murder hunt
A search at a house in Cumana, Toco on Thursday morning for a man suspected of having murdered a mother of three, led to the arrest of two men for possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. The two men, Roderick Tulk, 47, and Jimil Jackson, 22, both pleaded guilty before Sangre Grande magistrate Judy Gordon later the same day and had their matter adjourned to today for tracing and sentencing. The court heard that the police armed with a warrant went to the house in Cumana to search for the murder suspect when they stumbled on 55 packets of wrapped compressed marijuana valued at over $10,000. The two men who were in the house were arrested and charged.
Kathy-Ann Glasgow was sitting liming with some friends last Sunday morning at a pub on Palm Tree Road, Toco, when a man from Cumana village, with whom she had a stormy relationship, walked up and accused her of being unfaithful. He demanded that she go with him and when she refused, he dealt her several stab wounds. Since then the man has been on the run. police are checking every lead, hoping to find information on the suspect. PC Devon Hazel laid the charges against the two. In an unrelated matter Shane Ramgolie, 24, who made a false report to the St Joseph police that he was robbed and kidnapped in early August was on Thursday sentenced to four months hard labour for wasteful employment of police time.
The order was made by Senior Magistrate Ejenny Espinet. According to reports, Shane, who at first gave his surname as Maraj, reported that he and his girlfriend were kidnapped while standing outside the Dairy Bar, Southern Main Road, Curepe, on August 15 by five men who pulled up in a car, pulled them in at gunpoint, and drove off, where they proceeded to beat him. The men were alleged to have driven the couple to a cliff in Cumana where they robbed him and threw him off, before driving away with the girl. After speaking to the residents in Cumana, the girl, her relatives, her former boyfriend and other persons, Shane was charged with the offence.
