Flirt goes for a Happy Birthday Carnival!

The band unveiled its costumes at a launch held at Kaiso Blues Caf? LAST Sunday night, before friends, family and well-wishers.

The portrayals are “Raining Confetti”, “Red Velvet”, “Helium Balloons”, “Grape Moscato” and section leader Adeola Steadman’s “Birthday Candles”.

Bandleader Glenroy Watson who is also a promoter, entrepreneur and entertainment businessman, expressed his excitement over the presentation of the costumes designed by New York City-based Stronjeh Creations.

Watson said: “Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival, a spectacle like no other, will be celebrated in fine style in 2017.

“We will showcase our appreciation for the festival in a way that no other masquerade band ever has.

“Each section will be unique, and highlighting an element of celebration.” Five sections, each with three different designs, plus another for the male, Watson explained, give options to the masqueraders.

He stated that Flirt Carnival’s underlying mission has been and will continue to deliver true fun to mas lovers.

The band’s organisers boasted that with no holds barred, in their first three years they have offered their masqueraders an enjoyable and memorable experience on the road on Carnival Monday and Tuesday, complete with security, meals and drinks, for much less.

The first year the band hit Port-of-Spain with La Isla De Color, it placed first in the Medium Band Category.

A year later the production, Parading In Gems, placed fifth, while last year the band paid tribute to Classics of Soca.

Next year Flirt expects to get back into winner’s row but the ambition ahead of 2017 for Watson and his team is to successfully deliver fun once again to their masqueraders.

The launch ended with a guest performance by soca artiste Cassi (Cassiano Sylvester) who had the audience dancing to “Whistle and Horn” and one of his 2017 selections “Break Record”, he then performed“ Man In Yuh House”, “Town Ting” and another 2017 teaser.

He closed with his new soca parang song: “Santa Whey Yuh Want”.
