Reliving Germany 2006
Malick took their audience on a Journey from Haiti to Germany with the trials of the national football team leading to this country’s first appearance in the Football World Cup.
The presentation relived some of the pre-qualification events, the trip to the world stage and the aftermath in which the writers and directors mixed it up with some socio-political satire.
Carnival characters like the Pierrot Grenade, Midnight Robbers and Devils were used, all with different agendas.
The chronicles of Jack the Midnight Robber was the main thread throughout the presentation playing on events before and after TT’s qualification.
Malick used songs (calypso included) to tell their tale, songs from 1973 (Haiti), 1989 Strike Squad (On and On remix) Maximus Dan “Fighter” and “Real Supporter” to Isaac Backman’s current hit “To the Ceiling” all to the enjoyment of the audience.
