Mayfair Ladies Bridge Christmas luncheon
The Hamper Game, played by individuals, with the most sought after prizes, was won by Kelshall. Other winners of beautiful hampers donated by corporate citizens were Elsa Redwood, Pat Debysingh, Barbara Johnston tied with Sandra Aleong and Joyce Farley, Pat Howard tied with Ena Byrne and Germaine Lazzari, Ettie Maule, Cislyn Phillip and rookie, Jackie Chong Tai.
Maule, recently elected president of Mayfair, welcomed Hugh Williams, president of the Trinidad and Tobago Contract Bridge League and his wife, Ken Blanchard, the Club’s auditor and his wife, Brenda, and Ralph Jaikaransingh (Tournament Director). Christmas lunch was followed by entertainment from balladeer Kelwyn Hutcheon, presentation of cups won at Tournament Games played throughout the year, gifts for the outgoing Board Members; and a game of charades on the Rules of the Game of Bridge led by Kelshall.
The Mayfair Cup for pairs went to Joyce Farley and Dianne Grell; Margaret de Souza was the winner of the Annie Samuel Cup for Individuals; Dr Forrester’s cup for Teams of Four was won by Pat Howard/Kelshall/Janet Alleyne/ Michal Andrews. There was a tie for the Dorothy Sanguinette Trophy for pairs, Alleyne/ Farley and Moy Hosang/ Moy Belgrave; The Ghent Trophy played by pairs went to Farley/ Kelshall; Samuel Sanguinette’s Trophy for Individuals went to Farley; Ena Barnes Trophy for Seeded Team of Four was won by Maule/Urania Roberts/Sandra Aleong and Liris Armstrong; and Alleyne/Andrews won the Winnie Ward Trophy for pairs.
The Mayfair Ladies will return to the Bridge tables from 1 pm on Wednesday January 9, following a Special General Meeting which starts at 12 noon, in the Jean Pierre Complex.
