Anime City returns
“Since we did our last show more than a year ago, we have been participating in and observing shows both in Europe and North America so it was logistically impossible to host another show locally,” explained Troy Rhodes, Genesis’ communications director.
“But during those months we were bombarded with literally hundreds of emails and telephone calls from true local Otakus (devoted Anime fans) calling for another Anime City!”
There have been more than a dozen Anime City shows held over the past five years and local fans have maintained a constant appreciation for the efforts that the Genesis Foundation has made in bringing the best of Japanese animation and cutting edge J-Pop action to Trinidad.
For Anime Mini-City 2K8 an even wider range of anime will be shown, coupled with the introduction of interactive gaming and the continuation of the always-popular Dance Dance Revolution and Karaoke games.
And the usual Anime City Mall filled with the latest anime DVDs, manga, comics and collectibles at the usual lowest prices will continue to be a fixture.
“To keep a more intimate atmosphere, seating for Anime Mini-City 2K8 is limited to just 500, rather than the thousands of tickets we usually do,” stated Warren Alleyne, events coordinator.
“We thought we’d get back to basics and have a show for the true lovers of Anime, stripped down with no distractions — just great movies with some J-Pop action thrown in liberally. The support of the local fans makes all the planning worthwhile and encourages all of the volunteers at Genesis to try even harder.”
Unlike previous shows there will be no general admission tickets, only special reserve and VIP tickets are available.
They are now on sale in limited quantities and can be purchased exclusively from The Genesis Foundation, 1 Rosalino Street, Woodbrook or at X-Tra Foods Supermarket at, Grand Bazaar Mall. Interested persons can also either call 627-8433 or 727-1591 or email
